The Chaise

Monday night I made pretty good friends with my new favorite tool;  It's a staple gun and a nail gun in one.  I went straight to town with my first project with it by recovering this old vintage chaise.  Of course I was too excited with the project that I forgot to take a before shot, so I'll fill you in on the basics of the before.  It was an old stained rose colored velvet material.  I decided to pull out this purple velvet burnout curtain and upholster it over the old material.  I could not be happier with how it turned out. Now, where to put it?

I bought this cardigan at a Thrift store awhile ago and it has become a great piece in my closest. I love to wear it to add irony to a lot of outfits since it has that older feel to it.  I decided to wear it this day with my vintage high waisted Levi Denim shorts with ripped tights underneath, an old cropped band tee, my vintage suede leopard belt with a large gold buckle, and a pair of black wedge Deena and Ozzy booties.

I have always been drawn to the old; vintage, antiques, etc.   Perhaps its the grim reminder of passed time that eerily intrigues me, or maybe its a strange way to emphasize my youth that I try so dearly to clutch onto.  




 Either way, it seems to be relaying the same message.  Don't be too quick to grow up.  Be Patient.

DIY: Sleeveless Blouse

Getting rid of clothing is near impossible to me.  Why toss it away when you can just make it different?  As I was going through my wardrobe and folding up my winter items I found these blouses.  Sure they are great as they are, but they could definitely be even better in my spring and summer collection with a little finagling.

I cut off the sleeves, cleaned up the fray with a little stitching and voila!  So far I love them with my black skinnies and Dolce Vita Harness boots and I also love pairing them with a great Maxi.

Bonus, I can use the extra material for some headbands or use it for detailing on other DIY projects. Perfect.

Sun Days

I trust the present.  I trust the future.  Life that is lived in any other manner is an illusion created from fear.

Everything happens for a reason. Trust the present.  Make room for mistakes, change, opportunity.  For the only certainty that we have in life is what is happening now.  Let your soul wander and your mind wonder.  There is a path your life will take you.  Trust the detours, they are suppose to happen.
