Chiffon&Lace

I am really loving lace these days, can you tell?  Every girl should own at least one lace cami bralette.  I love to pair them with high waisted Maxi skirts.  They are also great under tanks or sheer tops.  Today I paired mine with my black pleated chiffon maxi.  I love the feminine edge of it.  The animal print wrap bracelet is the perfect accessory for this outfit.  It's actually a DIY bracelet (to find out how to make your own hop over to the DIY section).

Rugged Boho

 This outfits' inspiration completely revolves around this skirt.  Its a vintage chiffon maxi with tattered panels.  It is very wonderful, I must have it.  There are so many ways you can play with a skirt like this.  I decided to go for a more ironic grungy spin.  I paired it with this vintage levi's denim cutoff tee to layer over this basic cropped white tee.  For accessories, the burnt orange bowler hat and a gold armband with geo print peep toe booties. Chic.

Leather & Lace

I love the juxtaposition of leather and lace.  Its the perfect balance of femme and edgy.  It's the perfect look for summer to turn a day outfit into a night.  I must have this leather fringe jacket and vintage lace dress.  This amazing vintage lion head cuff bracelet and House of Harlow 1960's shades are also on my summer must-have list.

Color Denim

Today features the sock with heels look.  Since the weather here at home has been chilly, I won't get to try it with better spring-wear for a little while.  I went for a little spring transitional look  with the color denim and neck-tie blouse. Here's hoping for warmer weather!

Heels + Socks

I am looking very forward to some warms weather for this very trend.  I love the way this trend looks with a flirty feminine dress.  There's lots of room to play around and experiment with color, prints and lots and lots of shoes.

Richard the Great

One of my biggest fashion photography inspirations is by far Richard Avedon.  He was the trailblazer in the fashion photography industry breaking away from the standard technique of emotionless, lifeless photographs, and instead bringing action and life.   His pictures are captivating and reveal the true essence of 'the moment'.  Every picture eloquent, beautiful and real.  No one did it quite like Mr. Avedon; truly one of the greats.

This giraffe photograph is not Richard Avedons' but it is an Avedon inspired Vogue photograph that I think is quite wonderful.

{Southwestern Chic}

A dear friend of mine just recently moved into her own apartment and is investing in some DIY projects for her home {jealous}.   Today, she brought over some of her things and spent the afternoon finagling.  We didn't think to take the before shots, but photographed the finished product.  We began with reupholstering an old ottoman with this fabric that had a bit of a southwestern appeal to it.  to go with the ottoman, she picked up a pair of hanging antlers and decided to spray paint them gold.  The third project unfortunately was not photographed because it did not dry in time.  Its an old coffee table we painted black and then appliqued some lace on the top.  After it was dry we sprayed it over with the gold spray paint and removed the lace, it gave it a really great antique detailing.  It turned out so great, I died.  I look forward to some more of these projects!
